W. H. M'CLUNG IS DEAD HERE

Was One of Muncie's Best-Known Printers.

Funeral services for William H. McClung, 71 years old, well known printer, who died at 9:20 p. m. Monday at his home, 646 North Jefferson St., of arterial sclerosis, after an illness of four years, will be held at 2 p. m. Wednesday in the residence. Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery.

Mr. McClung was born in Liberty, Ind., in 1857, and at the age of thirty came to Muncie, where he was a business associate of his father, Captain James H. McClung, one of the finest editors and publishers in Indiana who was part owner of the Muncie Times. The Times was merged with the Herald to form the Muncie Press.

McClung's first position in Muncie was as foreman of the composing room with the Times. Major John P. Wildman was also part owner of the Times at that time.

Had Been Retired.

Mr. McClung's health had been failing for the last four years during which time he had been retired. He was a member of the Muncie Typographical Union, Indiana Tribe of Red Men and the Ben Hur Lodge. He was also a member of the Energy Lodge of Odd Fellows and of the First Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are the wife, Mrs. Georgetta McClung; two sons, Dr. Earl P. McClung, of this city, and Lieutenant-Commander E. R. McClung of the United States Navy; two daughters, Mrs. Roy Agnew and Miss Margaret McClung, both of Muncie; one sister, Mrs. F. H. Barton, of Champaign, Ill. and three grandchildren.

Mrs. McClung Dies; Rites Friday

Mrs. Georgetta Pierce McClung, 92, of 646 N. Jefferson St., widely known Muncie resident, died Wednesday morning at the Goodman Nursing Home.

She had been ill since January when she fill in an accident.

She was the widow of William H. McClung, one-time foreman of The Muncie Star composing room.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Meeks Mortuary. Dr Lewis W. Gishler will officiate, with burial in Beech Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the mortuary after 4 p.m. Thursday.

Mrs. McClung was one of the oldest members of the First Presbyterian Church. She came to Muncie from Liberty 70 years ago.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ray Agnew of Muncie and Mrs. Arthur Brodbeck of Gary; two sons, Dr. Earl P. McClung of Muncie and Capt. E. Raymond McClung of New York City; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and a brother, Wesley C. Pierce of Muncie.
