Death of John W. Reid
The sad news comes to us of the death of John W. Reid, at the residence of his father, John P. Reid, at half past two o'clock this morning, from that terrible disease, consumption. The subject of this obituary was born in Richmond, Ind., on April 26, 1858, making his age, at the time of his death: 23 years, 5 months and 20 days. When quite a child his father moved to this city, and here he has lived ever since. Growing up among the young men and ladies of this city, he made many friends who will be be pained to hear of his sad demise. Several years ago, he commenced working in his father's blacksmith shop, where he labored constantly until about a year ago, when consumption seized upon him, and since then death has only been a question of time. For twelve long months he has been a constant sufferer, and now although 'tis sad yet his friends will hear with thankfulness, that he has gone to rest. He leaves a loving father, a tender mother, several affectionate sisters and brothers, and a host of weeping friends to mourn his loss. His funeral will take place from the residence of his father on North street, at four o'clock to-morrow afternoon. Services to be conducted by Rev. D. S. McCaslin. Friends of the family are respectfully invited to be present.
