The wedding of Miss Minnie Batgin Clarke, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles D. Clarke, to Mr. B. Franklin Sayre takes place this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Christian church. The ceremony will be performed by Rev. Helsabeck. The maid of honor will be Miss Clarke, a sister of the bride. A sister of the groom, Miss Margaret Sayre, has been chosen by the bride as bridesmaid. The best man will be Mr. W. J. O'Donnell of Richmond, and the groomsman, Mr. Ralph Detmore. After the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Sayre will leave for Canton, where they will be given a reception by the groom's mother, Mrs. W. A. Sayre. Mr. Sayre is connected with the Champion Fibre company in a responsible capacity and the young people will make their home in Canton. After the rehearsal of the wedding last evening the wedding party were entertained informally by Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Clarke at their home on Asheland avenue. A hundred and fifty invitations have been issued to the wedding.

CANTON, Dec. 6.—Chief of social events here during the past week was the dance given by a number of young men in honor of Miss Margaret Sayre, of Asheville, who has been the guest of her brother, Mr. B. F. Sayre, for several days. There was a number of young people present and dancing continued until quite late.

B. F. Sayre Resigns as Sanitary Inspector—B. F. Matthews Appointed. Gaither Street Water Line.
Monday proved to be an unusually busy day for the city commissioners, a large number of routine matters being dispatched as well as business of an extraordinary nature. B. F. Sayre, city sanitary inspector, tendreed his resignation which was accepted by the commissioners and B. F. Matthews was appointed to fill the position. Mr. Sayre's resignation was made effective on August 25, and his successor will begin his new duties at that time.
