Our old friend, Newt. Scott, is himself again, having recovered from the effects of his old Arkansas campaign, and has entered into partnership with C. Zimmer in the wholesale and retail Notion, Toy and Candy trade, and we observe that they are just receiving a large lot of nice goods. They expect to be fully prepared for the Hollidays, and we bespeak for the new firm of Zimmer & Scott, a big trade. Take our advice and call and see them.

—The funeral of Mr. Newton Scott occurred this afternoon, the remains being buried in Maple Grove cemetery. He was, a few years ago, one of our best known citizens. It doesn't take long for a person to drop out of recollection, in these times of push and hurry, though.
Richmond Sunday Register, August 30, 18852925
died at Indianapolis last Sunday, and Tuesday the remains were brought here and interred in Maple Grove cemetery. Mr. Scott had a number of relatives here, and several years ago resided in Richmond. For seven years he was a salesman for Scott & Crawford in the dry goods business, and was quite well known in the merchant trade all over the country. A large number of the older citizens met the remains at the depot and followed them to the cemetery.
