DEATH OF MRS. ALONZO SCOTT

Mrs. Alonzo Scott, of New Paris, died this morning at 7 o'clock at her home, after a long illness. Mrs. Scott was one of the most highly esteemed women of that community and her death brought forth univeral expressions of regret and sympathy. Mrs. Scott is survived by her husband and two children, Mrs. Charles McGuire of this city, and Charles Scott, of New Paris. Both Mr. and Mrs. Scott are well known in this city as they had many friends here. Mr. Scott has figured extensively in political circles in Preble county and recently retired from the office of county treasurer. The funeral will take place from the home Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The burial will be at the New Paris cemetery.

Funeral services for Alonzo F. Scott, 83, former treasurer of Preble county and for many years a resident of New Paris, who died in his home in Richmond, Thursday, were held Sunday afternoon from the late residence on the National road, east of Richmond at two o'clock. For a number of years Mr. Scott conducted a general store in New Paris. He moved from New Paris to Richmond where he spent the latter years of his life. For some time he was traveling representative for a pottery firm. Mr. Scott served in the 124th regiment of Indiana Volunteers during the Civil War and was a member of Sol Meredith Post, Grand Army of the Republic.

The deceased is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Morse Scott, one son, Charles, New Paris, one daughter, Mrs. Charles A. McGuire, Richmond and one sister, Miss Martha Scott.

Funeral services for Alonzo F. Scott, 83 years old, veteran of the Civil war, whose death occurred Thursday will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the residence, National road east. Interment will be made in Spring Lawn cemetery, New Paris, Ohio. The Rev. R. H. M. Augustine will officiate.

Mrs. George O. Waggoner

Mrs. Mary E. Waggoner, 85 years old, 37 South Twenty-first street, widow of George O. Waggoner, died Sunday noon. She was a native of Preble county, Ohio, born Apr. 8, 1870, the daughter of Austin and Sarah Jane Morse. She lived in the New Paris community until she moved to Richmond 25 years ago. Mrs. Waggoner was a member of Reid Memorial United Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Clara A. Kelly of Richmond; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Waggoner will be held Wednesday at 2 p. m. at the Jones and Placke funeral home. Dr. Robert P. MacDonald will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Lawn cemetery in New Paris. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday after 3 p. m.
