S. H. Stambaugh of King Grove, northeastern Holt, has the best fruit farm in that part of the county. He reports that his orchard produces better this year than at any previous season and his fruit is less affected by curculio than orchards further down in the county. Mr. Stambaugh has placed us under obligation by some splendid samples of Red Astrican, Beauty of the West, Red Junes and Cathead Apples. They were the finest lot of apples we have seen in 1876.

Pioneers Are Passing.

STAMBAUGH.

The death of S. H. Stambaugh, which occurred at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Vol. Coston, in the King Grove district, on Monday of last week, April 3, 1911, at the age of 85 years, removes one of the early settlers of Clay township. He was born in York county, Pennsylvania, February 5, 1826, and came to Holt county, locating in the King Grove district, in the spring of 1866, and has ever resided in that locality. His wife crossed over life's mighty river in 1902, and since that time he has been making his home with his daughters, Mrs. Thos. Sanders and Mrs. Vol. Coston. Besides these he leaves three sons, Oliver, Frank and Charles; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The funeral services were conducted from the M. E. church, Wednesday of last week, conducted by Rev. Wm. Enyeart, assisted by Rev. R. Barrett, and the interment was in the Maitland cemetery.
