Children of MARY JEANETTE STAMBAUGH and VOLNEY AUGUSTUS COSTON:

Volney Coston, of the Harmony district, was in town Wednesday of last week, and came in and took a look at us. He was accompanied by his son, Frank. He is an old subscriber to this old reliable paper, and while his visits to the old town are far between, he will always find time to give us a call, and we always enjoy his calling.
"Vol" was born in McKean county, pennsylvania, May 14, 1850. When a lad of four summers his parents moved to Page county, Iowa, where Vol grew up on the farm. The family then went to Atchison county, this state, and in 1863, they pulled up stakes and moved to a farm in the King Grove district in Holt county. In 1865 they went over to a farm on Little Tark, west of Bigelow, and tried it until 1871, when they went back to the old King Grove locality. In 1896 Vol bought the farm formerly owned by Wm. Carr, in the Harmony district, and here he has stuck and made good.
His father was Bishop Coston, who died February 5, 1907, and his mother was Hulda Corwin, and she is still living, a widow.
Vol married Mary, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Stambaugh, and they have five living children; these are: Clara, Mae, Dale, Frank and Bessie, and they are all so attached that they have stayed right there with pa and ma, who we guess they think are reliable stand-bys.
Speaking of farm prices, Vol said in order to have a little pocket change for the 4th of July in 1881, he hauled a load of corn from King Grove to Bigelow and sold it at 14c per bushel. This year he hauled a load to Skidmore and sold at $2.12 1/2 per bushel. He has 140 acres of mighty good farming land.
