Announce Nov. 22 Wedding

Mr. and Mrs. Robert B. Stanley, 523 Thirty-eighth street, announce the marriage of their daughter, Miss Frances Lee, to Harry Lee Beane, son of Mr. and Mrs. P. J. Bean of Norfolk, Va. The couple was married in Princeton Nov. 22, the ceremony being performed by Rev. James R. Shanks, pastor of the First Baptist church, at the parsonage. Mr. and Mrs. Beane have gone to Norfolk, Va., for a visit with the bridegroom's parents, but will return to Rock Island to make their home. The bridegroom is a motorman with the Tri-City Railway company.

Harry L. Beane

Harry L. Beane, 37 years old, former resident of Rock Island, died at his home in Philadelphia last Friday, following a sudden attack of heart disease, according to word received here today by a son, Harry L. Beane, Jr.

Mr. Beane was born Aug. 3, 1890, at Norfolk, Va., coming to Rock Island about four years ago. Several months ago he went to Philadelphia.

He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. J. Beane; four brothers, John, Clifton, William and Arthur, and one son, Percy, all of Norfolk, and a son, Harry L. Beane, Jr., of Rock Island.

Burial was in Elmwood cemetery at Norfolk.

Alvin G. Edwards

Alvin G. Edwards, 69, of 1795 11th Ave., Apt. No. 2, Moline, was dead on arrival this morning at Lutheran Hospital. Death was attributed to an apparent heart attack.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Trimble Funeral Home, with Rev. William S. Mellish of First Congregational Church, officiating. The body will be cremated.

Friends may call from 5 until 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Edwards was born in Jackson County, Iowa. He married Mrs. Frances Beane Feb. 27, 1958, in Clinton, Iowa.

He had been employed as a automobile salesman in this area and was retired.

Survivors are the widow; a daughter, Mrs. Robert E. Gippert of Moline; three grandchildren; a stepson, Dr. Stanley Beane of Davenport; a step grandchild; and a step great-grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Paul Green of Houston, Tex., and Mrs. Russell Steele of Rockford.

Frances Edwards

Frances L. Edwards, 91, River Park Health Care Center, Rock Island, died Saturday, March 14, 1998, at the home.

Services are 10 a.m. Tuesday at Wendt Funeral Home, Moline. The body will be cremated. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Moline. There is no visitation. Memorials go to First United Methodist Church, Moline, where she was a member.

Frances L. Stanley was born Jan. 30, 1907, the daughter of Robert and Maude Paddock Stanley. She married H.P. Bean Nov. 22, 1923. He died Aug. 26, 1927. She then married Alvin G. Edwards Feb. 27, 1958. He died March 24, 1971.

She owned and operated Frances Beane Edwards Accounting Firm, retiring in 1976.

She was a member of Kings Daughters, Mary K. Hill House Circle, Independent Accountants Association of Illinois, American Legion Auxiliary Post 246, Rock Island County Historical Society and Moline YWCA.

Survivors include a stepdaughter, Marilyn Gippert, Rockford; a grandchild; three great-grandchildren; a cousin, Florence Whitten; and close friends, Jean Hagberg and Jerry Peterson.
