Miss Vera Stanley and Leslie W. Curlee Marry At Service in Residence

The marriage of Miss Vera Stanley, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert B. Stanley, 1821 Sixth avenue, Moline, to Leslie W. Curlee, son of Mrs. Julia Morrow, Chicago, took place this afternoon at 1 o'clock in the home of the bride's parents.

The Rev. T. Harley Marsh, pastor of First Baptist church, Moline, performed the single ring ceremony. There were no attendants.

The bride wore a blue chiffon velvet gown, made floor-length with long, tight-fitting sleeves and a small circular collar of silver metallic cloth. Her slippers were of silver color. She carried a bouquet of Johanna Hill roses.

Following the ceremony, a wedding luncheon for 10 members of the immediate families was served in the Stanley residence, after which the couple left on a wedding trip. After Nov. 10, Mr. and Mrs. Curlee will reside in Chicago.

Mrs. Curlee attended the public schools of Rock Island and for the past five-and-a-half years she has been employed as bookkeeper at Bengtston's drug store, Rock Island.

Mr. Curlee received his education in the public schools of Du-Quoin, Iowa, and was graduated from the University of Chicago. He is superintendent of the G. A. Seagrove company secret service, with headquarters in Chicago.

LESLIE W. CURLEE

Graveside services for Leslie Ward Curlee, 65, of West Bend, Wis., a former Moline resident, will be at 11 Friday morning in National Cemetery on Arsenal Island. The Rev. Elwood K. Wylie, pastor of First Baptist Church, will officiate, and Esterdahl Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Curlee died Monday in West Bend.

Mr. Curlee resided in Moline from 1945 to 1950, moving to West Bend at the time. He was born Sept. 6, 1893, in Du Quoin, the son of Zebeedee and Julia Curlee. He married Vera Stanley on Nov. 22, 1935, in Moline, and the couple resided in Chicago for several years.

He was a veteran of World War I and II and a member of the American Legion, Chicago, the VFW, and Disabled American War Veterans. He was employed as an engineer on steamboats and railroads, retiring in 1949. He was of Protestant faith.

Surviving are the widow; his mother, Mrs. Julia Morrow, Galva, and a sister, Mrs. W. A. Elan, Galva.

Mrs. Vera L. Curlee

Mrs. Vera L. Curlee, 73, of 2200 1st St. A, Moline, died Monday at her home.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline, with Rev. Thomas Bailey, First Baptist Church, Moline, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Moline. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Moline, or Westwood Terrace Seniors Club, Moline.

Vera Lois Stanley was born in Moline, and married Leslie Ward Curlee in November 1935, He died in 1969. Mrs. Curlee was employed as a cook at the American Legion Post 246, Moline, until her retirement.

She was a 57-year member of First Baptist Church, Moline, and was past president of the Westwood Terrace Seniors Club, Moline. She was past commander of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary of Janesville, Wis. She was a member of the Past Department Officers Club of Wisconsin, Disabled American Veterans; VFW Auxiliary, Moline; World War I Barracks No. 410 Auxiliary, Rock Island; Olive Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, Oak Lawn, Ill.; American Legion Auxiliary No. 246, Moline; and Louise Foster Circle of Kings' Daughters. She formerly was a member of Woman's Club of Moline.

She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Frances Edwards, Moline.
