AN OUTDOOR WEDDING

On Wednesday evening, at the home of the bride's father, Mr. W. H. Baldridge, President of the First National Bank, was solemnized the marriage of Miss Nellie Baldridge and Mr. Lloyd Stevenson. An ideal moonlight evening and a spacious lawn surrounded by trees and lighted with Japanese lanterns—this was the setting for one of the prettiest weddings Escondido has ever witnessed. The guests were welcomed into this fairyland by Mrs. Baldridge and Mrs. Ramey. As the strains of the Lohengrin "Wedding March" came from the house under the skillful touch of Miss Mildred Thomas, an aisle was formed with garlands of pink, by Miss Florence Ramey and Miss Helen Logan. The groom entered, accompanied by Mr. Frank Baldridge. Then followed the matron of honor, Mrs. Haskell Lapham, a cousin of the bride, and the bridesmaid, Miss Elsie Nutting, both gowned in pink, the ring-bearer, little Beatrice Baldridge, and closely following her the bride herself, on the arm of her father. Her gown was a rich but dainty combination of lace insertion and satin ribbon, the whole effect softened by the folds of tulle veil. The ceremony was performed in a simple and dignified manner by Rev. Cressy.

Congratulations were showered upon the young couple, the bride's bouquet was thrown and the company entered the house to enjoy the delicious supper that had been prepared. The room where the bride's table was laid was decorated with pink roses and asparagus fern. The other guests were seated in a room charmingly adorned with autumn leaves, red carnations and smilax. Friends of the bride assisted in serving the supper—Mrs. Charles Baldridge, Misses Olive Crane, Lois Thomas, Lucy Turrentine, Mantie Cochran and Ruth McKee.

Immediately after the supper, while the guests were admiring the many beautiful gifts, the newly wedded couple made their escape, successfully avoiding showers of rice and old shoes.

Mr. and Mrs. Stevenson will spend a few days in the vicinity of Los Angeles and after November 1 will be at home to their friends in the Thayer cottage.

Both young people have lived in Escondido since childhood. Mr. Stevenson is cashier of the Escondido National Bank. They have the best wishes of the whole community and of a host of friends, both near and far.

Among the out-of-town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Haskell Lapham, Miss Catherine Cotton and Fred McCay, cousins of the bride, Mr. Howard Cravath of Bakersfield, and Miss Mildred Thomas of Los Angeles.
