ASA L. STRONG DIES IN SUFFIELD, AGED 70

(Special to The Courant.)

Suffield, Nov. 25. Asa L. Strong, 70 years old, founder of the first and only drug store in Suffield, died late this afternoon at his home here. He was born in Northampton, Mass., February 25, 1949, a son of Calvin and Ruanna Clark Strong. After being educated in the schools of Northampton he came to Suffield and established a drug store here. He had been in that business for forty-eight years, retiring about six years ago, when he sold out to Dr. W. E. Caldwell. He was a member of the Apollo Lodge of Masons and the First Congregational Church. He leaves a wife and a daughter, Mrs. A. B. Crane of this place. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2:45 o'clock at his home. Rev. Victor Greenwood, pastor of the Congregational Church, will officiate.

Mrs. Asa Strong Dies

Mrs. Harriet M. (Williston) Strong, 84, a lifelong resident of this town, widow of Asa L. Strong, died this afternoon at the home on Main street. Mrs. Strong was a daughter of George and Sophronia (Stanley) Williston. She leaves one daughter, Mrs. Amos B. Crane; one niece and four nephews. The funeral will be held Monday afternoon at the home at 2: 30. Rev. Daniel R. Kennedy, Jr., a former pastor of the First church, will officiate, assisted by Rev. Ernest A. Reese. Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery.
