Miss Myrtle Farnham, the postmistress of this place was married at high noon Monday, Dec. 24, to Charles Sylvester of Tailtcoos, Or. Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester spent the summer on Tailtcoos Lake. They left immediately after the ceremony for their honeymoon trip.

SYLVESTER—Chas. R. Sylvester of Santa Clara, Cal., died Oct. 17. He has resided in Santa Clara for the past 6 years. Previously living in Walterville 10 years, where he operated a store. Born Nov. 25, 1875, in Wisconsin. He married Myrtle Farnham in Eugene in 1917. Survived by his wife, Myrtle, of Santa Clara; brother, Joe, of Portland; sisters, Mrs. Edna Ellefson, of Oak Grove, Or., and Clara Smith, of Portland. Funeral Monday, Oct. 20, 10:30 A. M., from the Pooles Chapel, Victor Morris officiating and interment in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery.

SYLVESTER—Cora Myrtle Sylvester of 14360 McKenzie Highway, passed away at a Eugene Nursing Home on March 4, 1957, at the age of 70 years. She was born February 9, 1887, in Minnesota, and came to Oregon when 10 years of age. She was a former school teacher at Dexter, and her husband Charles Sylvester operated a Grocery Store in Springfield for some years. She moved to Portland 15 years ago where she remained until about five months ago. She was a member of the Christian Church in Portland, and also a member of the Neighbors of Woodcraft. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles R. Sylvester in 1941. Surviving are four sisters, Eliza Trotter of Portland, Oregon, Grace Farnham of Tokyo, Japan, Ada Potter of Springfield, Oregon, and Bessie Wegner of Salem, Oregon; two brothers, Martin Farnham of Talent, Oregon, and Emmitt Farnham of Redding, California. Funeral service will be held at Buell Chapel on Wednesday, March 6, 1957, at 10:30 a.m., with Rev. Harold W. Lyman officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Those who wish may make contributions to The American Cancer Society, 429 S. W. 4th, Portland, Oregon.
