Philip Sylvester, 82 years old, former resident of Lane county, died yesterday at his home at Metzger, Oregon. He is survived by his widow, and by four children, Mrs. Charles Smith of Metzger, Joseph Sylvester of Metzger, Mrs. Harold Ellessenon of Oak Grove, and Charles Sylvester of Canary.
Mr. Sylvester was a member of the Christian church.
The body will be sent to Springfield, Oregon, where funeral services will be held at the Walker chapel tomorrow at 1 o'clock in the afternoon. Interment will be in the Mt. Vernon cemetery.

Mrs. Persis J. Sylvester died Thursday morning at her home in Portland, following a short illness.
Persis J. Parslow was born at Wagon, Landing, Wis., Aug. 10, 1859. She married Philip M. Sylvester, March 26, 1884. In the fall of 1885 they came to Oregon where she has lived since that time.
Mrs. Sylvester is survived by two sons, Charles R. Sylvester, of Santa Clara, Cal., and Joseph Sylvester pf Portland; two daughters, Mrs. Clara Smith, of Portland, and Mrs. Edna Elesson of Oak Grove, Ore.; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at Mount Vernon cemetery, Monday at 12 o'clock noon.

AMITY — Joseph Philip Sylvester, 81, Rt. 1, Box 724 a resident here since 1970 died Tuesday at his home.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Mrs. Link Beal, and a stepson, Arthur Shuttle, both of Seattle, Wash.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Washington Memorial Park, Seattle. Scott's Funeral Chapel, McMinnville, has charge of arrangements.
