WALTER SYLVESTER

Walter Frederic Sylvester, 88, of 1904 West Elizabeth St., died early Saturday at his residence.

He was a retired contractor, native of Sylvester Township, Wis. and resident of Brownsville for 48 years.

A Past District Deputy Grand High Priest for the 15th Masonic District of Texas and past Worshipful Master of Rio Grande Lodge No. 81, he was also a member of the Palestine Chapter No. 21, RAM; the Order of the Silver Trowel, and the Grand Council of the Order of High Priesthood of Texas.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Freda Sylvester of Brownsville; three sons, John W. Sylvester of Baytown, Tex., Fred W. Sylvester of Pasco, Wash., and Robert L. Sylvester of Houston; a brother, Morris Sylvester of Spooner, Wis. and two sisters, Mrs. Katie Purrington of Monticello, Wis. and Mrs. Eleanor Tobler of Monmouth, Ore.

He is also survived by eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. today at Darling-Mouser Funeral Home with the Rev. John Massey officiating. Graveside services will be conducted by Rio Grande Lodge No. 81, AF & AM, at the Buena Vista Burial Park.

Pallbearers will be the members of Rio Grande Lodge No. 81.

MRS. FREDA S. SYLVESTER

Mrs. Freda S. Sylvester, 85, died Wednesday at Houston.

A native of Monroe, Wis., she had been a Brownsville resident since 1920.

She is survived by three sons, John W. Sylvester of Baytown, Fred. W. Sylvester of Pasco, Wash., and Robert L. Sylvester of Houston; a sister, Mrs. Sophie S. Burl of Monroe, Wis., seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Friday at 4 p.m. at Buena Vista Burial Park, with Rev. Ed Robertson officiating.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Darling-Mouser.
