Mrs. Lewis Dies North of Albany

Albany — Mrs. Albert Lewis, 47, died at 4:39 p. m. Sunday in her home, four miles northeast of here. She had been ill for more than a year, and had undergone two serious operations in the Wisconsin General hospital in Madison.

Mrs. Lewis was formerly Miss Bertha Sylvester, a daughter of Moses and Emily Sylvester of Sylvester township, who also resided here for many years, and was born there Dec. 14, 1885. She attended rural schools, and continued to live on her parents' farm until her marriage to Albert Lewis of Mt. Pleasant, Nov. 21, 1914.

They lived on a farm in Exeter for five years, and have since lived on the farm where she died. Survivors are her husband, two children, Myrtle, 15, and John, 10; and three sisters, Mrs. Eugene Laughridge, Albany, Mrs. Charles Purington, Monticello, and Mrs. John Tobler, Muscara, N. M.; and two brothers, Maurice Sylvester, Spooner, Wis., and Walter, Brownsville, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Tuesday in the Baptist church here, the Rev. H. A. Erickson officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest cemetery.

Albert Lewis

ALBANY — Albert Lewis, 79, lifelong area resident and retired farmer, died at 8:55 p.m. yesterday in St. Clare Hospital, Monroe, where he had been a patient one week.

A native of Green County, he was born in Mt. Pleasant Township June 30, 1886, the son of John and Helen Ross Lewis. He married Bertha Sylvester Nov. 21, 1914 ant they farmed in the Albany area. She died in 1932. Following his retirement a few years ago, Mr. Lewis moved to the village.

Surviving are a son, John, Albany; a daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Borgwardt, Milton Junction; two grandchildren; a brother, Lester, of Albany; three sisters, Miss Idell Lewis, Albany, Mrs. Ethel Hefty, Evansville, and Mrs. Edith Staley, Brooklyn. Three brothers and four sisters predeceased him.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Sharer Funeral Home, the Rev. Dennis Hahn, Albany Baptist Church, officiating, with burial in Hillcrest Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home tomorrow evening.
