Bayard Transcript, September 15, 19277819
Esther Imogene Reynolds was born at Ashland, Nebr., September 5, 1903, and died at her home in Minatare at 10:30 o'clock a. m. Sunday, September 11, 1927, at the age of 24 years and 6 days.
When four years of age she came to Bayard where later she attended school and spent most of her childhood. About six years ago she moved to Minatare, where she has since resided.
She acted as an efficient assistant in the local postoffice and made many friends by her sunny disposition and courtesy.
On December 5, 1925, she was united in marriage to Herbert Wickard, who survives her, and an infant daughter, Dorothy, born September 11, 1927, and for whom she gave her life. She is also survived by one daughter, Jeane McElwee, by a former marriage, father, mother, one sister, four brothers and other relatives.
All that skilled physicians and friends could do were of no avail and her young life on earth was ended.
Rev. R. J. Embree, pastor of the Methodist church at Minatare, conducted the brief but impressive services, filled with tender sympathy, to the sorrowing ones, at the family residence and surrounded by a wilderness of flowers, mute testimony of the love and esteem for Esther, she was laid to rest in the Bayard cemetery Tuesday afternoon, September 18.
