Marriage Announcements and News

Wa-Keeney Kansas Leader, January 7, 18809801

Married.

BLAIR—PIERSON— At the residence of the bride's parents, Solomon City, Kan., January 1st, 1880, Mr. A. H. Blair of Wa-Keeney to Miss Salome A. Pierson of Solomon City, Kan.

The above records another of Cupid's victories. The swain is one of our most excellent young men and the fair bride is chosen from among the flower of Solomon City's lovely daughters. We wish them a long life, full of happiness.

The following is what the Ellis county Star has to say in regard to the affair:

A.H. Blair, all our boys know him, besides being one of the best boys in Western Kansas, he is one of our brightest land attorneys. He knows a good claim when he sees it, he is familiar with all the various acts under which claims are held; he has concluded to make an entry, under the act of Sept. 4th, 1841, which requires settlement and cultivation—in other words a "squatters right." His application has been on file for some time, and calls for Miss Salome A. Piersen, and by a sheet of "giltedge" we are told that his receipt will issue at Solomon City at four o'clock this afternoon. Stick to your claim through wet and dry seasons—never abandon it, never jump another man's claim, and peace, happiness and prosperity will reward you and yours in days to come.

The happy couple goes to Wa-Keeney, their future home on the train to-night, where a cordial welcome awaits them.

PRESIDENT THANKS MEMBERS FOR SUPPORT

Mrs. Salome A. Blair, of Wakeeney, retiring president of the Sixth District Federation of Women's clubs, in the following letter thanks the club women for their support during her administration:

To the Club Women of the Sixth District.

I wish to express, to you all, my appreciation of the willing and lively interest you have had in all the good things for which the federation stands.

You have made of my two years of service as your president a joy and delight. The efficient work of the chairmen of departments, taking up unfamiliar duties, has gone far to make whatever of success has been attained, and to the executive board, who has so loyally upheld me in all things, are my due thanks.

So, whatever merit there may have been in this administration, to the club women of the district be all the praise and honor, and to the new president I commend a loyal constituancy.
