He married KATE E. ROGERS in 1862. She was born September 17, 1845 in Poughkeepsie, Connecticut,³⁵⁹² and died February 23, 1931 in West Salamanca, Cattaraugus, New York.³⁵⁹² She is buried in Crawford Cemetery, Salamanca, Cattaraugus, New York.³⁵⁹²

Funeral of George P. Brown

Salamanca, Nov. 13—The funeral of the late Geor[g]e P. Brown will be held Friday afternoon from the family home on Crawford street at 2:30. Rev. M. F. Trippe officiating. Interment will be made in Crawford cemetery. The members of Sherwood Post, No. 380, G. A. R. will attend in a body and will have charge of the funeral. Mr. Brown was 74 years old. He was born in Coldspring and practically his entire lifetime was spent in this county. He came to West Salamanaca about 12 years ago and practically all the time he lived there he held the offices of justice of the peace and police justice.

FORMER JUDGE WILL BE BURIED TOMORROW

George P. Brown, Civil War Veteran, Lifelong Resident of Cattaraugus.

SALAMANCA, Nov. 13.—(Special)—The funeral of the late George P. Brown, who died at his home on Washington avenue, West End, Tuesday night, will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock and from the U. B. church at 2:30, the Rev. M. F. Trippe officiating. Interment will be made in Crawford cemetery.

Mr. Brown was justice of the peace at the West End and before Salamanca was made a city he was police justice of the village of West Salamanca. He was a veteran of the Civil war, having served in Company H, 37th regiment, New York Volunteer infantry, and was a member of Sherwood post 380, G. A. R.

He was born in the town of Cold Spring 74 years ago and had lived in Cattaraugus county practically his entire lifetime.

Mrs. Kate E. Brown Died at West Salamanca

Mrs. Kate E. Brown, widow of the late George P. Brown, Civil War veteran, died at her home in West Salamanca last Monday at the advanced age of 85 years. Mrs. Brown was born at Poughkeepsie, Conn., September 17, 1845, and some time after her marriage came to this section and for a time lived at Steamburg. She had been a resident of Salamanca for the past 30 years.

Surviving Mrs. Brown are two daughters, Mrs. Nelson Abbey of Randolph and Miss Brown at home; also several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the U. B. church in West Salamanca Wednesday afternoon, Rev. H. S. Kissinger pastor of the church, officiating, and burial was in the family plot in Crawford cemetery.
