DEATH OF ROSE BROWN, LONG A RESIDENT HERE

Expired Wednesday Evening—The Funeral will be Attended Friday Afternoon.

Mrs. Rose Brown, almost a life-long resident of this village, died at her home in Church street at 6 o'clock Wednesday evening, at the age of 73 years. She had not been in robust health for more than two years, yet was able to be about and called on her friends in the neighborhood until two or three weeks prior to her death. She was a woman who enjoyed the associations of her friends and neighbors, and during her long residence here she won the love and respect of both young and old, and many hearts are made sad at this time because of the loss of a near and dear friend.

Rose Martin was the daughter of Ephriam and Laura Martin, and was born at Shumley, in the town of Pomfret, Chautauqua county, and removed with her parents to this place when but eight years of age. Her entire life since that time has been spent here. She was married to Hiram Brown 52 years ago and to this union two daughters were born: Mrs. Ethel Nevins of Jamestown, and Mrs. George Swan of this village. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Paul Nevins of New York, Lawrence Swan of Elmira, James, Lester and Coila Swan of this place. Mrs. Brown was for many years a member of the Congregational church.

The funeral will take place from the late home Friday at 2 p. m. Rev. H. H. Clare will officiate, with interment in East Randolph cemetery.
