Clarissa Ahl, Donald Carter Wed In Presbyterian Church

Miss Clarissa Ahl, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Ahl, of Centerville and niece of Mrs. Lewis Edgar King, Glenview apartments, was married to Donald Carter, Greensfork, Saturday afternoon in a pretty ceremony in the Reid Memorial United Presbyterian church.

Mr. Carter is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Carter.

Rev. Allen Layman, pastor of the church officiated at the single ring ceremony solemnized at 3:30 o'clock. Arrangements of shell pink carnations and white delphinium, palms and lighted tapers in branched candelabra decorate the altar.

A half hour's program of bridal music was provided preceding the ceremony by Mrs. Raymond B. Nicholdson, organist. Her numbers included "I Love You Truly" (Bond), "At Dawning" (Cadman), "Oh Promise Me" (DeKoven), "Because" (d'Hardelot) and "The Lord's Prayer" (Malotte). The "Bridal Chorus" from "Lohengrin" (Wagner) was played for the processional and "Wedding March" from Mendelssohn's, "Midsummer's Night Dream" for the recessional. During the ceremony Mrs. Nicholson played, "To an Evening Star" from "Tannhauser" (Wagner).

Plays Tower Chimes

Hilton Cripe played the tower chimes before the organ program and immediately following the recessional.

The bride wore a navy blue sheer crepe street-length dress, fashioned with a plunging neckline, short sleeves and flared skirt. Folds of the material made a self-trim bolero effect. Her hat was shell pink straw with folds of pink tulle on the brim. She wore matching pink capeskin gloves and an antique gold and diamond necklace lent by her aunt for the wedding. Navy blue suede shoes completed her costume. Her flowers were a bridal bouquet of shell pink carnations arranged with matching ribbon and salal leaves. She was given in marriage by her brother, Dr. B. N. Ahl of Portsmouth, Va.

Following the ceremony Mr. and Mrs. Carter left on a wedding trip to Williamsburg, Va. Mrs. Carter traveled in a dark green and white sheer crepe dress with bolero jacket, white hat and accessories and red carnation corsage.

Upon their return they will reside in Greensfork.

Mrs. Carter is the great-great-granddaughter of Daniel Reid, in whose memory the Reid Memorial church was built by his son, Daniel G. Reid.
