The special pen of the reporter is this week brought into requisition to narrate another of the happy events in our local life. The ritual of the matrimonial book says—"Marriage is a joyous occasion, it is connected in our thoughts with the magic charm of home and with all that is pleasant and attractive in the most sacred relations of life." These familiar words to which many a young bride and groom have listened were given one more rehearsal on last Wednesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Ballou, when their daughter, Miss Elizabeth Anna, and Mr. J. E. W. Fenton were joined in legal wedlock. THe contracting parties appeared in the parlor at 12 o'clock noon, and a few intimate friends and members of the family witnessed the ceremony by which "for better or worse, for richer, for poorer" two young lives were joined for battles and the successes of the coming times. The Rev. J. William Carson, pastor of the Congregational church, was the officiating clergyman.
Miss Ballou has grown up in our locality from childhood and has a large company of well wishers, who extend their best regards and congratulations. Mr. Fenton is a successful young farmer and has made many friends. With his bride he expects to make his home in the convenient property, which he lately bought from J. A. Bowen.
Immediately after the ceremony the company sat down to an attractive wedding dinner and late in the afternoon the happy couple left on a wedding tour for St. Louis and other points, expecting to be gone several weeks.
