THOMAS CLARKSON HIATT

SPICELAND, Ind., Sept. 26.—Thomas Clarkson Hiatt, age 81, a wellknown resident of this place, died Sunday morning at 7:30 o'clock, following an illness of several months. He was the son of the late John and Rebecca Hiatt and was born November 9, 1839, on the old family homestead adjoining Spiceland. He was married October 28, 1886, to miss Anna Lowry of Knightstown, who survives him. Besides the widow his is survived by one sister, Mrs. Martha Perry, and two brothers, Will Hiatt of Spiceland and Eliphalet Hiatt of Hamilton county.

The funeral services were conducted this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the late residence by his nephew, the Rev. Albert Copeland of Paoli, assisted by the Rev. Mrs. Foxworthy. Burial took place in Circle Grove.

Death Of Former Town Lady

Following a retirement of 27 years in the state hospital for insane, at Richmond, Mrs. Anna Lowry Hiatt, aged 50 years, widow of the late Clark Hiatt, of Spiceland, passed away early last Saturday morning. Mrs. Hiatt was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George S. Lowry, former pioneer citizen of Knightstown, living many years in the property occupied by Walter Jolly and family in West Pine street. The only surviving near relatives of Mrs. Hiatt are Mrs. Letha Moore, a sister, of Carthage, and Harry G. Lowry, a brother, of New Castle. Other relatives of the deceased are W. C., L. S. and Charles Welborn and Mesdames A. O. Morris and Jessie Hewitt, this city, and Nannie Welborn Manson, Brookline, Mass., and Miss Florence Hiatt, this city. Funeral services were held on Monday morning at Spiceland, the relatives of this city attending.
