While J. Walter Lowry, Spiceland, formerly postmaster of Knightstown, and Mrs. Lowry, with their niece, Miss Grace Thomas of Greenfield were out driving late Thursday afternoon, their horse took fright at an interurban car and ran away, throwing the carriage and its occupants into a ditch. Miss Thomas' back was sprained, and Mr. Lowry had one shoulder badly bruised. Mrs. Lowry escaped unhurt.

KNIGHTSTOWN, Ind., November 6.—Mrs. J. Walter Lowry, wife of the postmaster of this city, died last night after an illness of several months. She had recently been in Colorado, seeking relief. Her husband and son survive. Mrs. Lowry was prominent in the social and club life of the city.

GREENFIELD, Ind., February 16.—J. Walter Lowry, age sixty-nine, died of heart disease at his home here, Sunday. He was postmaster at Knightstown for five years before coming to this city and was prominent in the Knights of Pythias Lodge and in the Methodist Episcopal church, of eastern Indiana. He is survived by the widow and a son, Charles W. Lowry, of Rennsselaer. The funeral will be held at the Knightstown Methodist Episcopal church, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock.

J. Walter Lowery, 69 years of age, died suddenly of heart trouble at his home four miles east of this city early Sunday morning. Mr. Lowry was born and reared in Knightstown, moving to the neighborhood where he passed away eighteen years ago. He was postmaster at Knightstown for five years. He engaged in farming and stock raising after moving to Hancock county.
Deceased was a member of the Knights of Phythias lodge and the M. E. church. He is survived by the widow and one son, Charles W. Lowry, of Rensselaer; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Howren, of New Castle; Mrs. Anna Hiatt, of Richmond; Mrs. Letha Moore, of Carthage, and one brother, Harry, of New Castle.
The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the M. E. church in Knightstown, with interment in Glencove cemetery. C. F. Pasco was the undertaker in charge.

Mrs. Elizabeth Winslow Lowry, age 92 years, a well known and highly respected former resident of Greenfield, died at 7:25 p. m. Monday in the Methodist Memorial Home at Warren, In., where she had lived for the past several years. Mrs. Lowry had sustained a fall recently at the Home in which she suffered a fractured hip, the result of which caused her death.
Born north of Willow Branch, Mrs. Lowry lived in Hancock County for many years. A member of the Bradley Methodist Church, this city, she was active in all of its organizations and activities.
Mrs. Lowry was a retired school teacher and dentist. She graduated from the Cincinnati College of Dentistry and practiced as a dentist with her nephew, the late Dr. Alfred Braddock at Portland, Ind.
She was united in marriage to John Winslow in 1883, who died, and in 1904 she was married to J. Walter Lowry, postmaster at Knightstown, who also preceded her in death.
Survivors include a step-son, Charles Lowry, of Knightstown, and several nieces.
Funeral services will be held from the Pasco Funeral Home at 2:30 p. m., THursday with Rev. Melvin Seeger, pastor of the Bradley Methodist Church, officiating. Interment in Park cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Wednesday.

Elizabeth M. Lowry, 92, former Indianapolis resident who died yesterday in the Methodist Memorial Home at Warren, was one of the early practicing woman dentists.
Born Near Willow Branch, Mrs. Lowry was the youngest of 10 children of Alfred and Mary Jane Thomas. Her father died when she was 2 and her mother continued to manage the family farm and rear and educate her children, three of whom, including Mrs. Lowry, became teachers. The latter taught in Hancock and Rush Counties.
In 1884, the then Elizabeth Thomas was married to John W. Winslow, also a teacher, and the two entered the Cincinnati Dental College together. Her husband, however, died before they graduated. She continued her studies and was graduated in 1892, one of three women in the class.
She practiced dentistry with a nephew, Dr. Alfred Braddock, Portland. In 1904, she was married to J. Walter Lowry, postmaster at Knightstown. He died in 1924.
From 1928 to 1942, Mrs. Lowry lived in Indianapolis with her sister, the late Mrs. Edward W. Felt. She was the aunt of Mrs. Howard C. Caldwell here.
Mrs. Lowry was a member of Irvington Methodist Church and the White Cross Service Guild.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m., Thursday in the Pasco Funeral Home at Greenfield.
