Harry Lowry, former resident of Knightstown and for the past ten or more years a resident of Carthage, died Wednesday morning shortly after 6:00 o'clock, from paralysis. He had been ill since early last summer and confined to his home most of that time. His last illness began last Thursday. He would have been 69 years of age next Monday.
Mr. Lowry was born in Knightstown and, with the late Arthur Stage, graduated from high school here, being the only two members of that graduating class. For a time he was employed in a meat market in Carthage, later served as U. S. mail clerk on the Pennsylvania railroad between Indianapolis and Richmond.
Mr. Lowry was twice married, first to Miss Elizabeth Sutes of Ogden, and after her death, to Mrs. Ella Long of Marion, who died a number of years ago. He was a member of the I. O. O. F. Lodge of Knightstown. The descendant was known to many in Southern Henry and Northern Rush counties, and his joviality appealed to his friends.
Surviving him are one sister, Mrs. Letha Moore, with whom he made his home; one niece, Mrs. Ruthellen Jones, of Ingalls; and two nephews, Fred Howren of New Castle, and Charles Lowry, of Madison.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, at the Thompson Funeral Home in Carthage, in charge of Rev. C. V. McMillan, pastor of Fletcher Methodist Church, and burial will take place in Glen Cove cemetery at Knightstown.
