HILLS—Joel S. Hills, a resident of Jasper, died Sunday, July 29 at a Eugene hospital at the age of 76. He had been retired from the mill business for some years. Mr. Hills was born March 15, 1869 at Jasper. He married Mae Sylvester there Feb. 14, 1888. He is survived by his wife; three children, Mrs. H. R. Morris of Springfield, Mrs. Omer Cox of Raymond, Wash., Alva L. Hills, Vancouver, Wash.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Sheridan Hills of Fall Creek. He was an uncle of Mrs. Hallie Huntington of Eugene, Mrs. Grace Walker of Oakridge, and Fred Hills of Jasper. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Phil Bartholomew mortuary, Springfield, Rev. Claude O'Brien officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Vernon cemetery.

HILLS—Ida Mae Hills of Vida, Oregon, passed away on December 29, 1959 at the age of 88 years. She was born on May 27, 1871 in Polk County, Wisconsin. Her husband, Joel Hills preceded her in death on July 29, 1945. She had been a resident of the community for the past five years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Springfield. She is survived by one son, Alva L. Hills of Springfield; two daughters, Mrs. Verna Hemphill of Medford, Oregon, and Mrs. Hazel Norris of Vida, Oregon; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 31, 1959 at 2 p.m. in Buell Chapel with interment in Mt. Vernon cemetery.

Jimmie Hills, the five-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hills, died in the presence of his parents at his grandfather's place at Cloverdale, Thursday morning, July 18, of membranous croup. He was tenderly laid to rest July 20, with interment at the Natron cemetery. Besides his parents he leaves a brother and two sisters, and many other relatives to mourn his demise. The entire community extend sympathy to the bereaved family.
