He married MARY JANE METHENEY on May 25, 1866 in Polk County, Wisconsin.⁴⁸¹⁸ She was born November 27, 1848 in Jay County, Indiana,⁴⁵⁶ and died February 19, 1935 in Jasper, Lane, Oregon.⁴⁵⁶ She is buried in Mount Vernon Pioneer Cemetery, Springfield, Lane, Oregon.⁴⁵⁶

Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Sylvester celebrated their golden wedding one day last week. Children and grandchildren present were: Mrs. Cora Hinson, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hill and daughter, Hazel, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Erickson and Vernita and Vern Erickson.

Benjamin F. Sylvester

Benjamin F. Sylveser, 88, died at his home in Jasper Sunday afternoon. He was an early resident of this section, coming to Springfield and Jasper in 1884, where he established a milling business. He sold the mill in 1915.

Benjamin Sylvester was born Feburary 3, 1848, in Green county, Wisconsin. In 1866 he married, and in 1884 came to Oregon. Mrs. Sylvester died last year. Survivors include three children. Mrs. Cora Hinson of Springfield, Mrs. J. S. Hills, Jasper, and Mrs. H. J. Erickson of Eugene; eight grand-chidren and seven great grand-children.
