SPRINGFIELD, Sept. 17. — (Special).—Fifteen guests were invited by Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hinson to dinner Saturday to observe their golden wedding anniversary, and during the afternoon they held open house to many more of their friends and relatives.
The dinner guests included Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Hills of Jasper, Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Erickson of Eugene, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Arnold of Shedd, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Ott of Newport, Mr. and Mrs. Del Hinson and their daughter Carolyn of Oswego, Miss Evelyn Erickson of Eugene, Eustace Smallwood of Newport, Alva J. Crost of Albany, and Fred W. Crost of Shedd.
Thirty-six persons called during the afternoon and evening.
Mrs. Hinson's parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Sylvester of Jasper, celebrated their sixty-eighth wedding anniversary of May 20 of this year. They were unable to attend the dinner Saturday because both are in poor health.

Frederick Hinson, 83, of Springfield, a resident of Land county for more than 60 years, died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born June 15, 1861, at Mineral Point, Wis., and at the age of 15 moved to Iowa. He later returned to Wisconsin, where he was married in 1884 to Cora Sylvester. They came to Oregon and settled in Lane county more than 60 years ago. They had lived for the past 34 years in Springfield.
Mr. and Mrs. Hinson had celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last September. He had been a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge for more than 30 years.
Surviving are his wife; one son, Del Frederick Hinson of Oswego; a granddaughter, Carolyn Hinson, student at the University of Oregon.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p. m. at the Phil Bartholomew mortuary, Rev. Claude O'Brien officiating, and the Odd Fellows in charge at the grave. Interment will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery.

HINSON—Cora Marie Hinson, age 79, of 225 West E St, Springfield, died at a local hospital, Sunday, October 6, 1946. She was born March 3, 1867 at Prairie City, Kansas. Married Fred Hinson at Mineral Point, Wisconsin, on September 15, 1884. Came to Oregon the same year living at Jasper and Cloverdale until 1911 when she moved to Springfield where she has since resided. Member of the Christian Church and Rebecca Lodge. Survived by one son, Dell Hinson, of Oswego, Oregon; two sisters, Mrs. May Hills of Springfield, Mrs. Alberta Erickson of Eugene; one grandchild. Funeral services will be held at the Bartholomew-Buell Chapel in Springfield Wednesday, October 9, at 2 p.m. Rev. Claude O'Brien and the Rebecca Lodge will officiate with interment in the family plot of the Mt. Vernon Cemetery.
