LAFAYETTE - Funeral Services for John Richard Howren, 87, will be 2:30PM Monday May 18, 2015 in David Funeral Home of Lafayette with Pastor Sam McPeek officiating. Interment will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park. Visitation will be Sunday May 17, 2015 from 3:00PM until 9:00PM and will resume Monday from 10:00AM until service time at the funeral home.
John, a native of New Castle, IN and a resident of Lafayette passed away Friday May 15, 2015 in Camelot of Broussard.
He was a U.S. Naval Veteran of WWII. He was a 1947 graduate of Spartan Aeronautical in Tulsa, OK. He retired from Petroleum Helicopters after 45 years of service. He had a passion for aviation and all aspects of it.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years Virginia Howren of Lafayette; a son Richard Gene Howren and wife Christine of Pinckney, MI; a daughter Shawn Lee Howren of Lafayette; a sister jean Ann Veach of Terre Haute, IN; 3 grandchildren Andrea Lee Howren of Lafayette, Jennifer Martindale and husband Andrew of Seattla, WA and William James Howren of Pinckney, MI; and 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son Johnny Lee Howren; his parents Frederick and Ella Wallace Howren; his brothers Thomas and James Howren; his sisters Janice Pitts and Elizabeth Howren.
