Mrs. Fred Howren, aged 27 years, of New Castle, died Saturday night at Miami, Fla., her death following an operation. The entire family, including Mrs. Mary Howren, mother of Fred Howren, went to Florida several weeks ago to spend the winter. Mrs. Howren leaves her husband and three small children, ranging in ages from three to eight years.
The body, accompanied by the members of the family arrived at New Castle, Wednesday at noon, and was taken to the home of Mr. Howren's brother-in-law, Wrighter R. Steele. The interment will take place at Glencove cemetery.

New Castle—Funeral services were conducted at New Castle Wednesday for Fred L. Howren, 66, who died Sunday afternoon in Henry County Hospital. A retired Chrysler Corp. employe, he had been ill for more than a year.
He is the father of Mrs. Janice Pitts of Carthage. Burial was in South Mound Cemetery, New Castle.

Fred Howren, 66, of New Castle, father of Mrs. Janice Pitts, died Sunday afternoon at the Henry County Hospital.
Mr. Howren was a retired Chrysler employe. He had been in ill health for more than a year. He was a member of the First Methodist Church and also was a member of the Eagles Lodge and the CIO Retired Members Club.
Mr. Howren between 1918 and 1932 operated a tire store in New Castle.
Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Marie Howren; two daughters, Mrs. Janice Pitts of Carthage and Mrs. Jean Ann Veach of Terre Haute; three sons, M-Sgt. Thomas F. Howren of Selfridge Air Force Base, Mich., James E. Howren of Elwood and John R. Howren of Lafayette, La.; six grandchildren; a half sister, Mrs. Effie Steele of New Castle; several nieces and nephews. A daughter, Elizabeth Jane (Betty) Howren, flight nurse, was killed during the war in 1944 in Sicily.
Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. J. Thomas Frost officiating. Burial followed in the South Mound Cemetery at New Castle. The Eagles Lodge held special services at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
