William Manson, aged 72 years, of Brookline, Mass., formerly of this city, died Saturday very suddenly while at his club at lunch in Boston, heart failure being the cause of his death. After lunch he engaged in a game of chess and it was while playing the game that the attack came upon him. Mr. Manson was assisted from the table by friends and was afterwards taken to a hopsital, but before reaching the hospital he died. The body was sent here for burial and arrived over the New York Central lines Monday afternooon.
Besides his wife, Mrs. Nannie Welborn Manson, he leaves on daughter, Miss Dorothy Manson, of Brookline. Other relatives here are Mrs. Jessie Hewitt, sister-in-law, from whose home the services were held.

Deceased is remembered here by many of the older people of Knightstown. Mr. Manson was a carriage trimmer by trade, and many years ago worked here for the late William Haines.
Mr. Manson was a 32nd degree Mason, belonging to Oriental Lodge No. 500 F. and A.M., the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite and Murat Temple.
The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon from the home of Mrs. Jessie Hewitt, South madison street, at 4 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Roland Badger, pastor of the Presbyterian church. Interment was at Glencove cemetery in charge of c. F. Baster, undertaker.
Friends from out-of-town attending the services were: Mr. F. J. Johnson, St. Paul, Minn., head of the American Hoist and Derrick company, with which Mr. Manson had been associated for 35 years; Mr. Oliver Morton, St. Paul Minn., and Mr. J. L. Mrs. W. L. Manson, aged 78 years, passed away at her home in Brookline, Mass., last Friday night, climaxing an illness of several weeks' duration. Mrs. Manson was born in Knightstown, Indiana, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Welborn, on October 18, 1858. Her early education was received in the local schools. As a young woman she was united in marriage to William Manson, a resident in this community, and to this union was born one daughter, Miss Dorothy Manson, who survives. Mr. Manson passed away in 1926.
Mrs. Manson was a member of the Bethel Presbyterian Church, and during that part of her life spent in Knightstown, was an active and interested worker in the church circles, as well as the various clubs in this community. Mrs. Manson is the last member of the prominent and large family of Peter Welborn. Her brother, William Welborn, and sister, Mrs. A. O. Morris, passed away within the past six weeks.
The body of Mrs. Manson was shipped to Knightstown and arrived Sunday, where funeral services were held at 3:00 o'clock at the home of Mr. Donald Hewitt, her nephew, also the girlhood home of Mrs. Manson. Rev. H. T. Graham, of Indianapolis, and former pastor of the local Presbyterian Church, officiated. Burial was in Glencove cemetery with H. C. Gordon, funeral director, in charge.
