Mr. A. O. Morris, the Ruth street grocer, was married to Miss Gussie V. Welborne, of Knightstown, last evening. We tender our congratulations. Mr. and Mrs. Morris return to Rushville this evening, and will begin housekeeping in Jeff. Helm's house, on Elizabeth street, opposite to Dr. Helm's.

Knighstown Banner: On Wednesday evening last, Mr. A. O. Morris, of Rushville, and Miss Gussie Welborn, of this city, were married at the residence of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. P. C. Welborn. The happy couple departed the same evening to Indianapolis, and went from thence to their future home in Rushville. The union of these person seems to us especially suitable, and we predict from them a pleasant journey through life. Certainly, the well wishes of a host of friends accompany them.

Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Morris, South Jefferson street, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Jan.. 30th, 1928, with a dinner at their home. Members of their immediate families were guests. It gives The Banner pleasure to publish the following item from an issue of the paper published the week of Jan. 30th, 1903:

Wedding Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Morris, South Jefferson street, celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary today. Their home was beautifully and appropriately decorated for this happy occasion. Dinner was served at 1 p. m. The guests were Mr. and Mrs. John Morris, Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Joshua I. Alpheus O. Morris, 85 years old, uncle of Judge John Morris, died Friday night at his home in Knightstwon following a lingering illness. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the late home. Burial was in Glencove cemetery.

ALPHEUS O. MORRIS CALLED BY DEATH

Alpheus O. Morris, aged 85 years, died at his home at 140 South Jefferson street, a 11::34 p.m., Friday. January 31st, having been ill the past 20 months.

Mr. Morris was born January 9th, 1851, the son of John and Hannah Reynolds Morris, near Grant City, Indiana. He received such education as was possible at that time in the Knightstown school, after which he attended and graduated from the Eastman Business College in New York State.

After completing his schooling he returned to Knightstown and on January 30, 1878, was united in marriage to Augusta V. Welborn, daughter of Peter Welborn, one of the pioneer families of this vicinity.

Following a short year of residence in Rushville, Mr. Morris returned to Knighstown and opened a grocery, which in later years he expanded into a wholesale business, housing one of

the largest commercial markets in Eatern Indiana.

After a long and diligent career in the business world, Mr. Morris retired in 1926 to enjoy the fruits of his life's labors.

Mr. Morris was a life-long member of the Bethel Presbyterian Church, and for the past several years was an elder in that denomination.

He is survived by the widow, Mrs. Augusta V. Morris; two nephews, Judge John Morris of New Castle, and Douglas Morris of Rushville, together with three nieces, Mrs. Blanche Morris and Mrs. Ray Edwards of New Castle, and Miss Hannah Morris of Rushville.

Funeral services were held at the home at 2:30 p. m. Monday, February 3rd, Rev. Elwood Temple officiating. Burial in Glencove cemetery, with H. C. Gordon, funeral director, in charge.

Mrs. Augusta Morris Dies In The Hospital

Mrs. Augusta Welborn Morris, age 85 years, passed away at the Methodist hospital in Indianapolis at 7:15 o'clock Wedneaday morning, April 14th. Mrs. Morris' illness was of a very few days' duration, she having been taken to the hospital last Sunday morning. Complications arose and her condition grew rapidly worse.

Mrs. Morris was born in Knightstown, the daughter of Peter and Eliza Scott Welborn, one of the prominent pioneer families in this community. Mrs. Morris was educated in the local schools and later received additional higher education.

She was united in marriage to Alpheus O. Morris, a merchant in this city, and until Mr. Morris' passing in January, a life of happiness and activity was enjoyed by them in Knightstown.

Mrs. Morris was a member of the Bethel Presbyterian Church of this city; the Shakespeare and Avon Clubs and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Nannie Manson, of Brookline, Mass., one brother, William Welborn, of Knightstown, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the late home at 3:00 o'clock Friday afternoon, with burial in Glencove cemetery. H. C. Gordon, funeral director, in charge.

Augusta V. Morris, 84 years old, widow of Alpheus Morris, died Wednesday morning at her home in Knightstown. She was an aunt of Judge John Morris, Mrs. Ray Edwards and Miss Blanche Morris all of New Castle. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the home. Burial will be in Glencove cemetery.
