Marriage Announcements and News

Phillipsburg Herald, August 31, 18994214

Married

At the home of the bride's parents in Freedom township, August 30, 1899, Arthur H. Morgan and Miss Emma Robinson, their pastor, Rev. J. A. Arnett, officiating.

After the ceremony and congratulations were over we passed from the parlor which was elegantly decorated to the dining room where a large table was sumptuously spread with many good things to eat and which convinces us all that the Robinson women were elegant cooks. The bride was richly dressed in cream albatross, and the groom in a nice black. Several nice presents were given.

The bride and groom have both been raised in Phillips county, he having been one of the first babies born on Big Creek, and she coming here when a small child. The parents of this happy couple are well to do farmers who settled here in an early day and who while struggling against hot winds and drouths have wielded no little influence in shaping the moral, political and religious character of the county.

Few young people embark upon the highway of life with better qualifications than these. The groom is a graduate from the State Agricultural college and is a successful teacher. He is a young man of energy, industry and frugality, who possesses the knack of making things move. The bride is one of Freedom township's most charming and accomplished young ladies, has been for several years a successful teacher and a gifted instructor in music. Her true life and sweet disposition has won for her a place in the hearts of all.

The bride and groom are untiring workers in the church, Sunday school and Epworth League, and are loved by a host of friends who join the writer in wishing them a long and happy life, devoted to God, to each other, and to their fellowman.
