Miles L. Mitchell, assistant postmaster, who has been off on a short vacation, returned to his duties in the federal building Saturday morning.
Mr. Mitchell has a farm several miles northwest of Salina and for the last few days he has been hauling apples, packing them and putting them in shape for cold storage. He will have about 200 bushels for sale next spring when apples are high. He says if he had the time he would put another hundred bushels in cold storage.

SALINA, July 29—(AP)—City Council Commissioner M. L. Mitchell, 78, died here this morning of a heart affliction. He was a retired assistant postmaster and a former member of the Salina board of education.
Mr. Mitchell suffered a heart attack several weeks ago while visiting a son, Herbert H. Mitchell, San Francisco, Calif. The widow, another son, Walter R. Mitchell, Dallas, Tex.; two daughters, Mrs. F. E. McCollister, Blackwell, Okla., and Miss Helen Mitchell, Salina, also survive.
The funeral will be held Monday afternoon.

The funeral for Mrs. Addie Parsons Mitchell, 86, a daughter of one of Salina's earliest citizens, will be at 2 pm Monday in the First Presbyterian Church, the Rev. James Elliott officiating.
The body will be at the Rush Smith Funeral Home until 1 pm Monday when it will be taken to the church. Burial will be in Gypsum Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Mitchell died at 5:30 am Saturday in Asbury Hospital.
Mrs. Mitchell was the daughter of Luke Parsons, an early-day sheriff of Saline County. He came to this community shortly after the founding of Salina. His wife was the first public school teacher in Salina.
Mrs. Mitchell, a life-time resident of this community, was born on her father's farm three miles east of Salina in a log cabin. She taught in the Oakdale school for some years. Her husband, the late M. L. Mitchell, was for many years assistant postmaster in Salina. He died in 1937. Mrs. Mitchell was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are two sons and two daughters, Herbert H., Berkley, Calif; Walter R., Dallas, Tex., Mrs. Fenton E. McCallister, Grant's Pass, Ore., and Helen of the home; a brother and sister, Huston Parsons, Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. C. C. Van Natta, Topeka, five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
