Phyllis Peterson, Lt. Alvin Schock Wed in Brandon

Honor Graduates at State College Speak Vows in Church Ceremony; After Reception Leave for Macon, Ga.

Miss Phyllis Peterson, daughter of Mrs. Ruth Peterson of Brandon, was married to Lt. Alvin Schock, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Schock of Leola. The wedding took place August 5, in the Brandon Lutheran church with Rev. T. A. Johnson performing the ceremony. The double ring ceremony was used. Fall flowers were used in carrying out the bride's colors, green, yellow and white.

The bride wore a fitted white satin gown made with a train and a floor length veil of white tulle. She carried an arm bouquet of roses.

Her sister, Miss Paulina Peterson, who was maid of honor, wore a floor length gown of blue crepe and carried roses.

The bridesmaids, Miss Dorothy Coxe, Miss Roberta Coxe, Miss Ruth Billups, Miss Katherine Joyce and Miss Marie Iverson wore pastel shades of yellow, green and pink and carried mixed bouquets.

Gerry Graff, nephew of the bride who acted as ring bearer wore a soldier suit and her niece, Gayle Graff, who was flower girl, wore blue organdy.

The bride's mother and the groom's mother both wore navy blue and corsages of mixed flowers. The bridegroom's attendant was Lt. Arnold Hustrulid of Renner.

Mrs. Oscar Pearson played Lohengrin's wedding march as a processional and Mendelssohn's wedding march as a recessional. Before the ceremony Miss Genevieve Larson sang "At Dawning" and "Because".

About 200 guests attended the reception in the church parlors. Here the same color scheme was carried out with garden flowers and candles.

Out-of-town guests were Mrs. John Schock of Leota, Miss Esther Colton of Colton, Prof. and Mrs. T. M. Olson, Dr. and Mrs. A. Morton and Harmon Baukol of Brookings, Keith Coxe of Webster, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Peterson and daughters; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Mannes and daughter; Mr. and Mrs. Bernie Graff and children; Miss Katherine Beck; Miss Celia Schoenman, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Ahrendt, Mrs. Hermert Graff, Miss Lorraine Larson, Miss Georgia Larson, and Miss Marjorie Larson of Sioux Falls.

The bride, who is a graduate of Brandon high school was valedictorian of the class of 1939. She was graduated cum laude from the home economics department of State college in June this year. During her college career she was elected to membership in the national honor societies, Phi Upsilon Omicron and Pi Gamma Mu and was president of WSGA in her senior year.

The bridegroom is also a graduate of State college. He received his B.S. degree in January, 1943, and was graduated magna cum laude. This year he was chosen for "Who's Who", a national publication. He was a member of the American Chemical society and Alpha Zeta, national organizations. Since April he has been at Fort Benning OCS, Ga. He received his commission there on July 30.

Lt. and Mrs. Schock left on Friday morning for Macon, Ga., where he is temporarily stationed.
