REID — In Redwood City, Calif, Oct. 20, 1973. Miss Lea Reid, beloved sister of Mrs. Bertha R. Seely of Los Gatos; dear aunt of Mrs. Thelma Donahue of Watsonville, and Mr. Cecil Reid, Mr. Robert Reid and Mrs. Bertha Reid, all of San Jose, and many other nieces and nephews; a native of Indian Valley, California; age 90 years.

Funeral services Wednesday, Oct. 24, 1973, at 1:30 p.m., from Oak Hill Mortuary's Chapel of Roses, 300 Curtner Ave. Interment in Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Funeral Wednesday For Miss Lea Reid, 90

Funeral services will be held Wednesday for Miss Lea Reid, 90, descendant of California pioneers and a long-time teacher.

Miss Reid, who died Saturday in a Redwood City Hospital after a long illness, was a professor of natural science at San Francisco State University for 30 years, prior to which she taught in Santa Clara County and in San Francisco.

Miss Reid got her teaching credentials from the old San Jose Normal and later obtained a master's degree while teaching in San Francisco. She taught nature study at SFS, and was given a professorship after she authored a number of state bulletins on natural science, including one on broad - leaf trees of California.

She was born in Indian Valley (Monterey County), one of 14 children of Robert and Annie (Gregson) Reid. Her father was a cattleman and died when the children were young after which Mrs. Reid moved to San Jose so the girls in the family could attend the Normal School.

Miss Reid leaves a sister, Mrs. Bertha R. Seely of Los Gatos; many nieces and nephews, including Mrs. Thelma Donahue of Watsonville, Mrs. Bertha Reid of San Jose, and Cecil and Robert Reed, also of San Jose who developed Reid - Hillview Airport sold to the county several years ago.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. in Oak Hill Mortuary's Chapel of Roses with interment in Oak Hill Memorial Park.
