At the country home of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Stewart there were united in marriage Wednesday evening, August 18, Mr. Pardon Ballou Shepard and Miss Jennie May Stewart. The large grounds were beautifully lighted and the wedding ceremony took place at the front porch in the midst of a large circle of relatives and friends, Rev. Wilson Denny performing the ceremony at 9 p. m. The contracting parties are well and favorably known in this vicinity. Mr. Shepard is the son of our esteemed citizen, Mr. C. F. Shepard and is now a trusted employe of the B. & M. railroad. Miss Stewart is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Stewart, who for many years have farmed so successfully southwest of Ashland. Mr. and Mrs. P. B. Shepard after spending a few days in Ashland will go to Lincoln, their future home, where a furnished home already awaits them. They go to their new home with the best wishes of a large circle of loving friends.

Mrs. Jennie Mae Shepard, 67, died Saturday at her home, 344 South 26 St. in Lincoln. She was the wife of Pardon B. Shepard, and the couple were former residents of Ashland. The funeral service was held Tuesday morning at 10:30 at Hodgman's Mortuary in Lincoln, with burial in the Lincoln Memorial Park. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. A. L. Miller, pastor of the Presbyterian church of Lincoln, of which Mrs. Shepard was a member.
She is survived by her husband, P. B.; two sons, C. E., Lincoln, and P. S., Belleville, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Kuhl, Ashland, and Mrs. Verne Kearney, St. Louis, Mo.; two brothers, F. O. Stewart and M. A. Stewart, both of Ashland; and two nephews, Alton Stewart and Allan Stewart of Ashland.

Pardon B. Shepard, former C. B. & Q. conductor and a resident of Lincoln for 50 years, died Monday night at the age of 68.
Beofre his retirement about a year ago, Mr. Shepard was well known to travelers between here and Sioux City in his daily run as conductor of Burlington trains Nos. 16 and 17. His residence was at 344 So. 26.
He was a member of the Order of Railway Conductors, lodge No. 219, A. F. & A. M. and Second Presbyterian church.
He leaves two sons, Charles E., Lincoln, and Pardon S., St. Louis; a brother, Martin E., Lincoln; a sister, Etta Clark, Ashland; and two grandchildren.
