Rev. James Randolph Wellborn, prominent member of the Des Moines conference of the Methodist Episcopal church, died late last night at his home, 116 Meredith street, following a protracted illness. He was 76 years old.
Rev. Wellborn was born in North Carolina. He attended Tusculum and Greenville college in Tennessee. Following graduation, he attended the theological seminary of Evanston, Ill. He became a member of the Des Moines conference after his confirmation.
The minister had been a resident of California for the past 24 years. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. ALmeda Wellborn, and two daughters, Mildred Wellborn of the Pasadena junior college history department, and Mrs. Harry Roether,

Mrs. Almeda Scott Wellborn, 116 North Meredith Avenue, widow of Rev. James Randolph Wellborn, died yesterday at her home. A resident of Pasadena since 1917, she was a native of Winchester, Ind. She lived in Long Beach from 1904 to 1917 and was high school and city schools librarian there from 1905 to 1913. Earlier she taught school in Des Moines, Ia., where Rev. Mr. Wellborn was a Methodist minister.
Two of her daughters, Mildred Wellborn and Mrs. Maida Wellborn Roether, are teachers in the Pasadena schools. Mrs. Wellborn was a member of the First Methodist Church and of the Shakespeare Club.
In addition to her daughters, she is survived by a grandson, Richard Wellborn Roether, two sisters, Mrs. James Alden Miller and Mrs. Webster Bishop, all of Pasadena; and a brother, Harry L. Scott, Los Angeles.
