New Year's day was date of the marriage of Miss Dolores Winkler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Winkler, and Lyle Shingleton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Shingleton.
The ceremony was performed in the home of the bridegroom's parents by Rev. Kenneth Hawkins, former pastor of the Mammoth Baptist church.
The couple left for Stillwater, where Shingleton is attending school, immediately following a wedding supper prepared by his mother.
Shingleton served in the navy ver a year. The bride has been employed in McLoud for several months.
Those attending the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Shingleton and son, Edwin, of the home; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Nichols and children of Warwick; Miss Wyona Shingleton of Oklahoma City, Mr. and Mrs. Know Shingleton of Stillwater and Rev. and Mrs. Kenneth Hawkins.

A celebration of the life of Dolores Pearl Shingleton will be 11 a.m., Dec. 2, 2014 at Memorial Heights Baptist Church. A graveside burial service will be 3 p.m. at Jamison Cemetery in Meeker, Okla. Dolores passed away on Friday, Nov. 28, 2014. She was 88. Born in McCloud, Okla. on April 17, 1926, Dolores was one of ten children born to Thomas and Edna (Chilcote) Winkler and raised and educated in McCloud. Dolores graduated valedictorian of her class at White Rock School. After graduation she began working at Sipes Department Store. On January 1, 1947 Dolores married Lyle Shingleton in a Meeker, Oklahoma wedding ceremony. Their union was blessed with five children. On July 4, 1975 the Shingleton family made Claremore their home. Dolores was an artistic and creative person with many talents. Gifted with her hands, she was great at oil painting, sewing and quilting. Dolores made quilts and numerous clothing items for all her grandchildren. She entered her handmade items in the fair, giving them as gifts along with the blue ribbons still attached. She even worked as a professional seamstress, sewing patterns and items for other people. Dolores also used her crafty nature to recover chairs and make curtains for her home. A faithful and long-time member of Memorial Heights Baptist Church, Dolores loved to study God’s Word and would often volunteer to cook at church camp and Falls Creek. Together with her husband, they planted a one acre garden and Dolores picked and canned everything she could for her family. This loving mother and grandmother will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. Dolores is survived by her children Priscilla Reese, Carma Altendorf and husband Kent, Boyd Shingleton and wife Sharon, John Shingleton and wife Kathy, daughter-in-law Theresa Shingleton; grandchildren Ryan Reese and wife Dusica, James Altendorf and wife Renee, Laura Titsworth and husband Chris, Beth Altendorf, Micheala Hardin and husband Saul, Braden Shingleton and wife Miranda, Victoria Shingleton and Rachael Shingleton; 9 great grandchildren; sister Verna Dykster; numerous nieces and nephews. Dolores is preceded in death by her parents, husband of 57 years, Lyle Shingleton, son Roger Shingleton, 4 sisters and 4 brothers.
