Miss Marjorie Knudsen Bride of Donald Bressner

PONTIAC. — (PNS) — Miss Marjorie E. Knudsen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. harry Knudsen, and Donald E. Bressner, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Bressner of near Pontiac, were married at 10 a. m., New Year's day at the Presbyterian parsonage. The Rev. A. B. Morrow, pastor, performed the ceremony.

The bride was attired in a winter white gabardine ensemble with cherry coke accessories and an orchid corsage. She also wore a double string of pearls, given her by the bridegroom.

Miss Jane Knudsen, sister of the bride, and LeRoy Bressner, cousin of the bridegroom, served as attendants. The bridesmaid wore a gold crepe dress with brown accessories and a corsage of white carnations.

After a dinner served at the Club Palamar, the newlyweds left for a wedding trip to the estern states. Upon their return they will reside in an apartment on East Howard street road in Pontiac.

The bride is a graduate of Pontiac High school and is employed at the Fashion-Built Shoe company. Mr. Bressner is also a graduate of Pontiac High and is engaged in farming. He served five years in the armed services.

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Bressner and children visited their daughter and sister, Barbara, at Illinois Research Hospital in Chicago on Sunday. On their way home, they had supper with her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Knutson at Lockport. Barbara is getting along fine.

Donald Bressner

PONTIAC — Donald E. Bressner, 86, a resident of Asta Care Center, Pontiac, since November of 2003, died at 9:56 a.m. Thursday (Feb. 26, 2004) at the center.

His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at McDowell United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Donna Baker officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Pontiac, with full military honors at the graveside. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Harris-Martin-Burke Funeral Home, Pontiac.

The family suggests memorials be made to the McDowell United Methodist Church.

He was born Dec. 20, 1917, at Pontiac, a son of Carl F. and Wilmuth (Roberts) Bressner. He married Marjorie Knudsen on January 1, 1947, at Pontiac. She survives. Also surviving are three sons, Carl "Bud" (Judith) Bressner, Chenoa; John Bressner, Forest, and Richard (Barbara) Bressner, Cocoa, Fla.; two daughters, Barbara Bressner, Champaign; and Beverly (Mark) Friedewald, Cocoa; eight grandchildren, Jeff, Alex, Randy, Jamie, Sydney and Makayla Bressner, Julie Uplegger and Bryana Friedewald; two great-grandchildren, Jacob Bressner and Ella Uplegger; three brothers, Gerald Bressner, Pontiac; Ronald Bressner, Harlingen, Texas; and James Bressner, Conroe, Texas; four sisters, Phyllis Gilman and Janice Shay, both of Pontiac; Joanne Tredennick, Fairbury; and Marge Chambliss, St. Joseph; and a very close friend, Delores Plowman.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers.

He was educated in Pontiac schools and was a 1935 graduate of Pontiac High School. He farmed his entire life in rural Pontiac. He was a member of the McDowell United Methodist Church. He was a former road commissioner of Eppards Point Township and a former member of the Pontiac Elks and Moose Lodge. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater in France, Germany and Luxembourg. He was a member of the 112th Infantry and was awarded a Bronze Star.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be sadly missed by everyone.

PONTIAC - Marjorie E. Bressner, 80, Pontiac, died at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday (June 27, 2007) at the ASTA Care Center of Pontiac.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the McDowell United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Donna Baker and Father Carl LoPresti officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Martin-Burke Funeral Home in Pontiac and one hour prior to the services Monday at the church. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Pontiac.

The family suggests memorials be left to the McDowell United Methodist Church accessibility fund or the ASTA Care Center activities department.

She was born April 24, 1927, in Pontiac, a daughter of Harry and Minnie Street Knudsen. She married Donald Bressner on Jan. 1, 1947, in Pontiac. He preceded her in death on Feb. 26, 2004.

She is survived by three sons, Carl "Bud" (Judith) Bressner, Chenoa; John Bressner, Forrest; and Richard (Barbara) Bressner, Cocoa, Fla.; two daughters, Barbara Bressner, Champaign, and Beverly (Mark) Friedewald, Cocoa, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, Jeff, Alex, Randy, Jamie, Sydney and Makayla Bressner; Amya Bressner-Plowman; Julie Uplegger; Bryana Friedewald; and Sarah Ramsey; five great-grandchildren, Jacob and Jared Bressner; Ella and Olivia Uplegger; and Marley Wright; one brother, Robert Knudsen, Bourbonnais; one sister, Jane Tinker, Athens, Ga.; and a very close family friend, Delores Plowman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, five brothers and one sister.

Marjorie was a 1945 graduate of Pontiac High School. She retired in 1991 after 21 years of employment as a certified nurse assistant with Humistan Haven. She was a longtime member of the McDowell United Methodist Church. She was active in the United Methodist Women and Sunshine Club. She was the last president of the Wimodausis Club, a rural club that provided a social outlet for farm wives.

She enjoyed cooking, sewing, crafts and spending time with her family. She was a nurturing soul, loved and admired by all who knew her. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
