H. Chamberlain

Harold Chamberlain, 68, 520 W. South St., died Wednesday at 4 p.m. at St. James Hospital. He had been in failing health several years and seriously ill two weeks.

His funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Pontiac United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Glenn Ioder officiating. Burial will be in Rooks Creek Cemetery.

Friends may call at the church after 1 p.m. Friday. The Raleigh J. Harris Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Chamberlain was born Aug. 14, 1908, at Pontiac, a son of Arthur and Pearl (Pemberton) Chamberlain. He was educated in Pontiac schools. For 46 years he was employed by the Daniels Oil Co. He was married to Helen Knudsen July 26, 1949.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Elks Club.

Surviving are his wife, Pontiac, and a sister, Mrs. Arthur Kidd, El Paso, Tex.

PONTIAC - Helen L. Chamberlain, 75, of 802 Deerfield Road, Pontiac, died at 1:15 a.m. Tuesday (Jan. 23, 1996) at Saint James Hospital, Pontiac. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, Pontiac, with the Rev. George Russell officiating. Burial will follow in Rooks Creek Cemetery, rural Graymont. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Harris-Martin-Burke Funeral Home, Pontiac. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or the Boys & Girls Club of Pontiac.

She is survived by two sisters, Jane Tinker, Cullom, and Marjorie Bressner, Pontiac; and two brothers, Robert Knudsen, Bourbonnais, and Donald Knudsen, Shorewood.

Also surviving is her special friend, Laurie Stitzer, Dwight; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was born June 14, 1920, in Pontiac, the daughter of Harry and Minnie (Street) Knudsen. She married Harold Chamberlain July 26, 1949. He died Dec. 8, 1976.

Also preceding her in death were her parents and four brothers.

She was educated in Pontiac schools.

Mrs. Chamberlain was a telephone operator for 38 years from 1941 to 1979 before retiring. She also did decorating for weddings.

Mrs. Chamberlain was a member of First United Methodist Church, Pontiac, and the Circle of the Church. She was the first president of B.P.W. of Pontiac. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi; Livingston County Historical Society; and the Pontiac Women's Club for several years.

She was a volunteer at Saint James Hospital, Pontiac, and a member of the Saint James Hospital Auxiliary.
