A death which brings a great burden of sorrow into the home of Mr. Percy Huston at Malta Bend, to the parents of the deceased and a wide circle of friends and relatives was that of Mrs. Lillian Morley Houston, which occurred at the family residence near Malta Bend Monday, September 4, about 5:20 p. m. For nearly two months Mrs. Houston has been in a critical condition, at times there would be improvement in her condition but proved to be temporary, and since last Saturday she has been much worse and it was known the end was near.
For about six happy years the deceased has been a resident of Saline. She was Miss Lillian Morley of McGrew, Ark., and was for several years a pupil at Central Female College at Lexington and it was while in school that she met the surviving husband, Mr. Percy Houston, and soon after their marriage the stricken home at Malta Bend was established. Two interesting children were bron to the union, a little boy three years old, and a girl babe, ten months, both of whom survive the young mother, who was about 25 years old. Skilled specialists have bee called to see the sick one during her illness, none of whom have been very encouraging in their diagnosis and everything that love and interest could suggest has been done, including trained nurses and the care of relatives and friends, but nothing availed and the wife, mother, daughter and friend has been called to the beautiful home of the soul, to await the coming of loved ones who will be desolate without her.
The life just ended was a blessing in the home of her girlhood and also in her own home where she was a devoted wife and mother, and her life was directed by a pure christianity that enabled her to dispense the sunshine in her heart freely to those about her.
The funeral was held Thursday at 10 a. m. at the home. The parents and other relatives arrived at the bereaved home Tues. afternoon.
Sympathy is extended to the husband and parents and all who are bowed in grief on account of this bereavement.
