Walter Meyer, Brodhead, Dies

BRODHEAD (Special) — Walter A. Meyer, 46, Brodhead, died at 7 a. m. today in his home at Brodhead. Herman A. Stuessy, county coroner, said Meyer apparently took his own life by drinking ether and that no inquest would be head.

Stuessy said Meyer was reported to have been despondent over illness in the family.

He was born in France March 4, 1908, and came to this country in 1928. On March 22, 1928, he married Blanche Laughridge, Albany, in Freeport. He then was employed on a farm near New Glarus.

Mr. Meyer leaves, in addition to his wife, sone sister, Mrs. Joan Koprud, New Glarus; one uncle, Gottlieb Lehman, Tillamook, Ore.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p. m. in the Everson Funeral home, Rev. Wilbur Leatherman of the Methodist church officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery, Brodhead.

Mrs. Blanche Meyers

BRODHEAD—Mrs. Blanche Meyers, 46, died Monday night in her home here.

The former Blanche Anna Laughridge, daughter of Eugene and Alma Sylvester Laughridge, was born May 7, 1908, in Sylvester Township. She was married to Walter A. Meyers March 22, 1928, in Freeport, Ill. They lived on farms near New Glarus and Albany until moving here 12 years ago. She was a member of the Albany Methodist Church. Mr. Meyers died last Dec. 20.

Surviving are her parents; five sister, Mrs. Tilman Nipple, Albany, Mrs. Francis McGrath, Argyle; Mrs. Cyril Briggs and Mrs. Clarence Zweifel, Brooklyn, and Mrs. Herbert Bernstein, Evansville; four brothers, Donald and Raymond Laughridge, Albany, Moses Laughridge, San Francisco, and George Laughridge, Egerton. An infant daughter and a brother preceded her in death.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Everson Funeral Home, the Rev. Wilbur Leatherman, Brodhead Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday evening.
