ALBANY/BROOKLYN/EVANSVILLE - Iva L. Briggs, age 91, of the Albany/Brooklyn/Evansville area died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005, at home. She was born in Cadiz Township on Sept. 12, 1914, to High and Alma (Sylvester) Laughridge. Iva graduated from Albany High School in 1932. She married Joseph "Cyril" Briggs at home on April 16, 1939. She and Cyril were longtime members of the Albany United Methodist Church. They farmed on Brooklyn Albany Road until Cyril's death in 1995. Iva is survived by her two brothers and a sister, Ray (Carol) Laughridge of Albany, George Laughridge of Alford, Ill. and Ruby Bernstein of Evansville; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cyril, in 1995; also brothers, Franklin, Donald and Moses; and four sisters, Emily, Rachel, Blanche and Letha. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2005, at 11 a.m. at the Albany United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ruth Lyons to officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Albany. Friends may call on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the church. Sharer-Bifulk Funeral Home is caring for the family.
