TELL ENGAGEMENT AT SUPPER

Blain, Pa., April 2.—Mr. and Mrs. Alvan McMillen, of Kistler, announced the engagement of their daughter, Miss Mary McMillen, and Earl E. Stambaugh, of Carlisle, at a supper given on Saturday. The table appointments harmonized and from an artistic table arrangement of cupids and "heartbeats," ribbons led to each plate attached to which were cupids bearing the names of Miss Mary McMillen and Earl E. Stambaugh. Miss McMillen is a senior student of the Cumberland Valley State Normal school, at Shippensburg, and Mr. Stambaugh is a son of Emanuel A. Stambaugh, of Carlisle.

Pretty Weddings.

Stambaugh—McMillen

Wednesday of last week at 10:30 o'clock the marriage of Miss Mary Rodgers McMillen and Earl E. Stambaugh was solemnized at the home of the bride at Kistler in the Sandy Hill district. The ceremony was performed by the bride's brother, the Rev. Homer George McMillen, of Hollidays Cove, Va., assisted by the Rev. Carl G. M. Ettlich, of Center. The wedding march from Lohengrin was played by Annabelle Loy, of Center, while the wedding party entered the parlor under a bridal wreath. The bride was prettily gowned in white satin with tulle veil, and wore a corsage bouquet of orange blossoms, and was attended by her sister, Miss Rillie McMillen, as bridesmaid. THe best man was Ralph Beaver, of Thompsontown. The Presbyterian ring ceremony was used. The ring bearer was Miss Margaret McMillen and flower girl was Miss Mae McMillen, both cousins of the bride, who reside at Sandy Hill. The color scheme was pink and green. About fifty guests attended the wedding from Huntingdon, Bixler, Waggoner's, Fort Robinson, Sandy Hill, Kistler and Hollidays Cove, Va. A wedding dinner was served at 11:30.

Amid best wishes and congratulations, the happy couple went on a wedding trip, their machine leaving about 1 o'clock for Carlisle, Harrisburg and points in the Cumberland Valley. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albon McMillen, of Kistler, and the Bridegroom a son of Emanuel Stambaugh, of New Kingston, Cumberland county.

Earl E. Stambaugh

Earl E. Stambaugh, 82, RD1, died Tuesday in Carlisle Hospital.

He was born in Perry County, was the first Allis Chalmers dealer in the Carlisle area located along the Harrisburg Pike, was a former farmer, and a member of Seond Presbyterian Church and Sunday school.

Surviving are his wife, Mary McMillen Stambaugh; a son, Glenn A. Stambaugh, RD1; a brother, Norman F. Stambaugh, Thornwald Home; and two granchildren.

Services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. in Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, 219 N. Hanover St. with the Rev. James J. Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in Westmeinster Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from noon until time of services.

Mary R. Stambaugh

Mary R. Stambaugh, 98, formerly of 1171 Claremont Road, Carlisle, died Thursday in the Church of God Home, Carlisle.

Born April 26, 1896, in Kister, Perry County, she was a daughter of the late Alvon and Martha Jane Milligan McMillen. She was the widow of Earl E. Stambaugh.

She was a 1919 graduate of Shippensburg University. She and her late husband were life-long farmers and operated a Allis-Chalmers Farm machine dealership for many years.

She was a member of Second Presbyterian Church, Carlisle, for 75 years.

Surviving are her son, Glenn A., with whom she lived, and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle, with the Rev. John L. Larson officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Cemetery, North Middletown Township.

Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. until time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Second Presbyterian Church, 528 Garland Drive, Carlisle 17013.
