A verdict of suicide has been returned by a Rockbridge County coroner in the death of Miss Eleanor Whipple, approximately 33 years of age, who apparently shot herself with a small revolver around 3:30 a.m. yesterday at her home in Brownsburg.
Miss Whipple was the owner and operator of Inglewood Tavern on Route 11 between Greenville and Steeles Tavern.
She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Eleanor Whipple; sister, Mrs. Dorothy Baker of New York, and brothers, D. W. Whipple, who resides near Brownsburg, Douglas Whipple of Culpeper, and Fred Whipple of Brownsburg.
Funeral arrangements have not been completed.
