Miss Sherwin Weds In Church Rites

WASHINGTON, D. C.—Miss Helen Shedd Sherwin of Greensboro, N. C., became the bride of Dr. John C. K. Yu here Friday in an afternoon ceremony in All Souls Memorial Episcopal Church with the Rt. Rev. Lloyd R. Craighill officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Allison Sherwin of Greensboro, and attended Woman's College and the University of North Carolina.

The bridegroom is the son of the late Rt. Rev. E. S. Yu of Shanghai, China. Best man was Dr. John Cosma.

For the wedding, the bride wore a white lace dress with a matching hat, and carried a bouquet of white roses. She was given in marriage by her father.

Ushers were Edward Leung and Herbert A. Sherwin, Jr.

After a reception in the church parish hall, the couple left for a wedding trip and will make their home in Silver Spring, Md. For travel the bride wore a navy suit with white accessories.

Dr. John C. K. Yu

Dr. John C. K. Yu, 53, a physician and surgeon in Rockville since 1960, died Wednesday in Suburban Hospital of complications following abdominal surgery. He lived in Potomac.

A native of Shanghai, Yu was educated in China and in the United States, receiving graduate training in medicine at the University of Pittsburgh. After moving to Washington Yu was a resident surgeon at old Garfield Memorial Hospital. He next served in the Army Medical Corps and worked in Pittsburgh before returning here.

Yu was a member of several professional organizations, including the American Board of Surgery and the Montgomery County and D.C. Medical societies.

He leaves his wife, Helen; two daughters, Janet and Elizabeth; and three sisters, Florence Leung of Rockville, Amy Lowe of Los Angeles and Linda Kwei of Ottawa, Canada.
