BALLOU-CUMMER NUPTIALS

Pretty Wedding Takes Place at The M. E. Ballou Home

A quiet home wedding was solemnized Wednesday afternoon at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Martin E. Ballou when their youngest daughter, Susan, was united in marriage to Mr. Allen W. Cummer of Fort Collins, Colorado. Rev. Floyd D. Reeves of the Congregational church officiated using the Episcopal ring ceremony.

The out of town guests were: Mrs. J. M. McAuley and Miss S. B. Zingre of Ithaca, Miss Lura Rowe of Lincoln, Miss Elsie Piper of Wahoo and Mrs. C. O. Swanson of Cedar Bluffs.

Mr. and Mrs. Cummer left on the evening train and after a short wedding trip to Denver and Estes Park, will be at home at Fort Collins where Mr. Cummer has a position with the Great Western Sugar Company.

The bride is a graduate of Ashland High School and the Domestic Science Department of the Colorado Agricultural College. It was while in college that she met her husband.

The good wishes of a multitude of friends go with her to her new home.

Mrs. Sue Cummer Weds At Las Vegas Saturday

Mrs. Sue B. Cummer of Pomona, Calif., formerly Miss Sue Ballou of Ashland, was married Saturday night, Oct. 27, to Edward D. Nickerson of Redlands, Calif., at Las Vegas, Nev.

Mrs. Nickerson has spent a part of the past few years in Washington, D. C., and Honolulu, T. H, with a daughter, also with her sister, Mrs. Elizabeth B. Fenton, in Pomona. Mr. Nickerson lives in Redlands, where he is interested in citrus and other business activities.

The wedding party consisted of Otis Ballou of Ashland, brother of the bride; Ben Fenton, Pomona, nephew of the bride; and immediate members of the bridegroom's family from Redlands. The couple will be at home after Jan. 15 at 936 San Jacinto St., Redlands, Calif.

ALLEN WALDO CUMMER

Allen Waldo Cummer passed away on Sunday, November 3, at his home in Scottsbluff, from pneumonia, following an attack of Spanish influenza, at the age of 27 years, 1 month and 14 days. The deceased came to Scottsbluff with his family, consisting of a wife and small child, a little more than a year ago, and accepted the assistant superintendency of the Scottsbluff sugar factory. He was the son of George Cummer, the constructing engineer, whom it will be remembered had charge of the building of the sugar factory in 1910. The deceased was born at Cleveland, Ohio, on September 19, 1891, and left there with his parents, when he was 6 years old, the family locating at Fort Collins, Colo. where he grew to manhood. He was married to Susie Ballou of Ashland, Nebr., June 1, 1915. He was a graduate of the Colorado Agricultural college, class of 1912. He stood high in Masonic circles, being a member of Cache la Poudre lodge No. 11, A. F. & A. M. of Fort Collins; De Moloy commandery No. 13 Knights Templars of Fort Collins; and El Jebel Temple Shrine of Denver. The remains were sent from Scottsbluff to Denver were funeral services were held, the local Masons accompanying the remains to the train as a guard of honor.

Mrs. M. E. Ballou was called to Scottsbluff by the serious illness of her son-in-law and was there at the time of his death. She returned to Ashland Saturday evening, accompanied by her daughter, Mrs. Cummer, who will remain here at her former home.
