FIND BANKER DEAD AT SPRING GROVE

Pistol Wound In Head Given By Coroner As Cause Of Death of G. Philip Hoke, Cashier, Aged 45

G. Philip Hoke, cashier of the Spring Grove National bank, was found dead in a bedroom of his home, on North East street, Spring Grove, this afternoon at 1 o'clock. A pistol wound in the head caused the death, Coroner L. U. Zech reported. The coroner said Hoke's wife, Mrs. Miriam Hoke, heard a shot and when she reached the room her husband's body was found. Dr. S. T. Shue, who was summoned, pronounced the man dead.

Hoke, aged 45 years, was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Hoke, Nashville. He had been employed in banks since completion of a business course following his graduation from Spring Grove High school. He was employed by the First National bank of Spring Grove. This bank merged with the Peoples bank and became known as the Spring grove National bank. Mr. Hoke was employed by the latter bank since the merger and had been cashier since 1935.

Hoke is survived by his widow, three brothers, Paul and Samuel Hoke, York, and Harry W. Hoke, Spring Grove, and two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Slagle, York, and Mrs. Katherine Gibbs, Nashville.
