A very pleasant surprise was given Monday evening on Mr. and Mrs. Ovid Alexander when a number of their friends gave a miscellaneous shower for them. Those present were Misses Lulu Sundheimer, Bessie Allison, Gertrude Haupert, Alma Geible, Ruth Sundheimer, Belle Geible, Margaret McVicker, India Krider, Della Baldwin, Nellie Lock, Lucile Klinter, Gerduleau Klinger, Messrs. Paul Schlemmer, Raymond Carney, Everett Keller, Victor Ivory, Carl Rish, and Mrs. Walter Pratt, Mrs. B. E. Bonawitz, Mrs. George Schlemmer, Mrs. Henry Reeves. Mr. and Mrs. Ovid Alexander received many nice and useful presents. Ice cream and cake were served and all departed at a late hour wishing them much success in their married life.

Wabash, Ind., July 10.—Ovid Alexander, a painter, felt a slide coming and prepared to make the best of it.
As he scooted headfirst from the comb of the house on which he was working, he made ready for a hanspring by the time he reached eaves.
Luck stood by him an as he left the roof for a ten-foot drop to the ground he swung his body so as to land on his side and shoulders. He got up and finished painting.

WABASH, Ind., Aug. 23.-Funeral services for Ovid Alexander, 46, will be held at 2 p. m. Saturday at a funeral home here. Burial will be in Ogan cemetery. Mrs. Alexander, farmer, died in Central hospital, Logansport, Thursday. He had been ill about six month with pulmonary tuberculosis.
Surviving are one son, Donald; three daughters, Marcile, Dorothy Dean and Betty Alexander, Wabash county; the mother, Mrs. Clara Alexander, Fort Smith, Ark.; six brothers, Ernest and Eli Alexander, Wabash; Theodore Alexander, Grand Rapids, Mich.; Orville Alexander, Huntington, and William Alexander, Elkhart, and two sisters, Mrs. ELmo Chamness, Jonesboro, and Mrs. Russell Harter, Elkhart.

WABASH — Marcile Estella Grindle, 82, 773 N. East St., died at 2:33 a.m. Tuesday in Miller's Merry Manor West.
Mrs. Grindle was a life resident of Wabash. She was a 1934 graduate of Wabash High School. She married Charles Maxwell Grindle on Oct. 3, 1942, in Elkhart. She was a member of the Wabash Christ United Methodist Church and the Lydia Circle of the church, In 1979, she retired from Clark's Finer Foods after 18 years of service.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Marlene (Mrs. Gary) Meyer, Wabash; a son, the Rev. Maurice, Plymouth, a brother, Donald Alexander, LaFontaine; a sister Betty (Mrs. Kenneth) Burnworth, Wabash; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ovid and Ruth (Bonawitz) Alexander, and a sister.
Services are at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Grandstaff-Hentgen Main Street Chapel, 86 E. Main St., with the Rev. L. Michael Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory cemetery, Marion.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

WABASH — Betty Janet Burnworth, 85, died Tuesday in Wabash Skilled Care Center.
The Wabash County native co-owned the Hill Dale Motel and Trailer Park, Lagro, with her husband, Kenneth. She retired from Wabash Electric.
Survivors include husband, Kenneth; nephew, Maurice Grindle, New Haven; and niece, Marlene Meyer, Wabash.
Services are at 10 a.m. Friday in McDonald Funeral Home, Eddingfield Chapel, 231 Falls Ave. Burial is in Gardens of Memory cemetery, Huntington County.
Visitation is from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
