Children of ALMIRA M. EDDY and MARCUS HALL:
Cattaraugus Republican, September 21, 19007385
Almira, daughter of Enos and Maranda Eddy, was born in Mansfield, N. Y., and died quite suddenly of heart failure at her home in the village last Sunday, having nearly completed her 64th year. Of a family of nine children, she is survived by one brother only, Sheldon Eddy of Mansfield.
On Sept. 7, 1854, she was married to Marcus Hall, and lived in Napoli for several years. In 1870 they moved into the town of Mansfield, a few miles from this village, where they lived for 15 years, after which they moved into the village, where they have since resided.
Four children were born to them two sons and two daughters. The sons died in infancy, but the daughters both grew to womanhood, and married and have homes of their own—Mrs. John Sprague, who lives upon the old homestead in Mansfield and Mrs. S. W. Bedient of this village.
When quite a young woman she united with the Congregational church of Napoli, and since becoming a resident of this town has been an active and faithful member of the Congregational church of Little Valley. She was an excellent woman and interested in every good cause, a member of the W. C. T. U., the order of Maccabees, and the Empire State Degree of Honor. While interested and active in many things outside of her home she was nevertheless faithful to her home in all its varied relations; a good wife, a faithful mother, and efficient home maker. She was kind and thoughtful as a neighbor. She will be greatly missed in the home, in society, in the church, where she has ever been a valued and faithful member. Mrs. Hall was first and above all a consistent and faithful Christian, and died in the peace and comfort of her faith in Christ.
Her funeral was held at her late home on Wednesday afternoon. There were present a large number of relatives, friends, neighbors and representatives of the various orders of which she wa a member. There wa a profusion of beautiful flowers, the offering of affection from many sincere mourners. The burial was in the rural cemetery.
Out of respect to Mr. Hall, his comrades of the G. A. R. attended the funeral and officiated as bearers and escort.
